SIKTER

Born from culture. Made for connection.

In Bosnia nobody asks if you want coffee. They ask how you take it.

Coffee there is not a drink you grab on the way to something else. It is the something else. The water goes on, the džezva comes out, and for the next hour nobody is in a hurry.

When people left, in the nineties and in the years after, the ritual left with them. It went into suitcases next to the photographs: a copper pot, a few small cups, a bag of coffee from home. In flats in Rotterdam, Vienna, Stuttgart and Malmö, the first thing that made a new place feel like home was the smell of that coffee.

A generation later, their children order flat whites in three languages and still know exactly what it means when nana puts on a third pot. That is who SIKTER is for: people who carry two homes, and the friends they keep inviting over.

The name is a joke that everyone back home understands. The sikteruša is the last coffee of a visit, the one that says it has been lovely and it is time to go. We liked the idea of a brand that is honest about both halves of hospitality.

How a ritual travels

  1. At home

A kitchen, a stove, a neighbour at the door. Coffee marks the visit from first cup to last.

  2. On the road

The džezva is small and nearly unbreakable. It is one of the few things that always fits in the bag.

  3. Abroad

New city, new language, same three coffees. The friends at the table now come from everywhere.

  4. Today

A ritual worth passing on, in a bag you are happy to leave on the counter.

This page describes the culture SIKTER comes from. Company and founder details will be added when they are ready to publish.
